Crocheting the magic ring: Alternatives?

are there any alternatives to the magic ring?

A short foundation chain, which is then closed with 1 slip stitch, is also a ring. You then crochet more stitches into this chain ring, which also closes the little hole in the center of the chain ring.

The advantage of the magic ring is that you don’t crochet stitches over the little hole in the center, but simply pull on the yarn. The yarn pulls the little hole completely closed.

So both methods are possible if you want to start a round crochet piece. Once you’ve tried the magic ring, you’ll probably stick with this method. Just give it a try!

Another option is to crochet 2 ch and use the first of the chain stitches as a ring.

I don't like the magic ring. I've tried it several times and it didn't really work. I'm sticking with my chain stitch ring.
