Dear users, dear authors,
what do you do with your fabric scraps ?

It really depends on what kind of fabric scraps they are, Josefa. Anything smaller than 10 cm goes straight into the trash these days, because otherwise I’d eventually have to build an extension just to store all the scraps ;-) :-) I sew toys or clothes for kids—there’s always plenty left over when I make something for myself—and I also sew bags from fabric scraps. A lot of what I show here is also sewn by me from scraps. If they’re jersey scraps, I usually make panties or tops out of them, often mixing patterns. With cotton, it’s a little different—sometimes a little shirt or skirt comes out of it. Or little pouches or bags for all kinds of odds and ends.

Best regards, Inge

Oh, I used to sew a lot of patchwork from fabric scraps, but I’ve given that up—my hands just can’t handle it anymore

Best regards, Inge

Or for little things like these for Easter

Denim scraps always get used too

Hi Inge,
I’ve read that small fabric scraps are also great for “stuffing” these crocheted figures—maybe someone’s interested 🤔
I just finished my first crocheted animal and was surprised by how much stuffing I used, so I’ve been looking for alternatives in case I ever make something like this again 😉

@Petra
great ideas 👍

Yes, I also use very small scraps as stuffing for crocheted or stuffed animals. Hanging Easter eggs don’t require much fabric either—just sew two ovals together, decorate them nicely, add a ribbon, and you’re done.
