It used to be a wrapping cloth...

What I made into something today used to be a swaddling cloth that belonged to my first mother-in-law, and she’s been gone for 53 years now.
The embroidered lace at the top was still in great shape, so I thought I’d make a little pouch out of it. Now I’m asking my daughters if they’d like one—sort of as a memento of the grandmother they never got to meet.

That really is a lovely keepsake.
Have you ever heard of a “memory teddy”? Someone told me recently that a teddy bear is made from a piece of clothing so that it serves as a memento of the person who wore that garment.
It’s certainly not for everyone, but I think it’s a lovely idea.

I’ve sewn teddy bears like that before, too, and they were always very well received

Once again, Inge has amazed us with her great ideas. I think it’s a really lovely idea to sew a pretty keepsake pouch out of these openwork fabrics. They turned out so great.

I’ve never heard of a “memory teddy” before. The things people come up with.

I actually have a “memory blouse” at home because I once sewed a short blouse (that ties in the front) out of my favorite nightgown. To this day, I still don’t know how I managed to pull that off. It even has a collar and buttonholes.
I’ll have to dig it out sometime and take a picture.
