Decorative Seam / Decorative Seams

Would you like to share something about decorative seams?

Oh Josefa, decorative stitches can be added to lots of things. Often a simple, understated decorative stitch is enough, but sometimes it can be a bit more elaborate. New, modern sewing machines have decorative stitches saved in them—mine alone has around 190, but I haven’t tried them all yet. :-) Decorative stitches look quite nice on bags, along the hems of shirts or blouses, and they can also look great on jeans if they fit. So there are lots of possibilities for adding a decorative stitch somewhere.

I agree with Akela! Decorative stitches often add the finishing touch to a sewing project. I’d make sure to always use good-quality thread. Nothing is more frustrating than thread that breaks while sewing a decorative stitch!

You should also make sure to use the right needle for the fabric so you don’t ruin everything while sewing the decorative stitch.
