When do crocheted decorations, animals, and amigurumi start to look worn out?

Dear users, dear authors,
Do crocheted decorations / animals / amigurumi last practically forever, or do they eventually start to look worn out? 

Actually, never—most of them can not only be dusted but also washed. Every now and then, something that’s sitting by a bright window might fade a bit, but that’s about it.
I still have lots of very old teddy bears and stuffed animals filled with straw—of course, you can’t wash those—but even they can be kept perfectly clean by brushing them out.
