drawing supplies—my youngest granddaughter loves to draw with pencils, and her grandpa just bought her some really nice Faber-Castell pencils for Easter,
so I sewed her a little pouch where she can keep those pencils along with
a sharpener and an eraser.

Love, Inge

Oh, how thoughtful—she’ll be so happy! Tell me, do you actually get any sleep at all? Your day must have an insane number of hours… or maybe you’re just a lot faster than I am. 🤣🤣

Veronika, like almost everyone else, I sleep 7–8 hours a night, and I only sew in the afternoon—mornings are for housework and such. However, my husband helps me out with a lot of household chores; he always says he needs something to keep him busy now that he’s retired. :-)
I’ve learned that before I start sewing, I need to prepare everything thoroughly so that I don’t have to stop once I’m in the middle of a project. This includes ironing all the interfaced pieces that need interfacing, then stacking everything so that I just have to take them out one by one to sew them. That’s how they teach you in the industry—it’s effective and you can work pretty quickly that way. Then my two machines are set up side by side, and I just have to roll my chair back and forth to sew whatever’s needed at the moment. That way, I save myself the trouble of switching setups on the coverstitch machine, which is often very time-consuming.
This time, though, my sewing machine played a trick on me while I was working on the jacket—suddenly the foot pedal wouldn’t work anymore. I was grumbling to myself about what was going on; my husband heard me, came over, and I told him that the machine’s foot pedal wasn’t working. He took a look and said, “It won’t work either—you’ve got a broken wire right behind the plug. Wait a bit; I’ll fix it for you.” So I had to wait about an hour—and what can I say, it’s working again :-) Otherwise, the jacket would’ve been finished yesterday; now it’s just today, but that’s okay.

Love, Inge

Wow, you’re so organized! And you have a husband just like mine, who always keeps everything in order and helps out around the house. I really appreciate a treasure like that, too.

Your granddaughter is getting such a lovely Easter gift.

The Faber-Castell pencils are top-notch—your granddaughter will be thrilled and can really indulge in her hobby. Especially since the pencils come in such a pretty pouch. I really like the paisley pattern. And you lined the pouch to match—very nice. But what I especially like is the sturdy zipper. Kids’ hands, in particular, need something sturdy and easy to grip. I think the little pouch for your granddaughter turned out great!

Best regards, Ina
