Hello everyone,
yesterday was an exciting day for us. Over the weekend, we had discovered a dark discoloration in the eye of our beloved tomcat Jimmy. Mr. Google told us it could be an iris melanoma. Unfortunately, we only managed to get an appointment with our trusted vet yesterday to have it checked out. So the weekend was, of course, rather mixed, and we were very tense. Yesterday we were given the all-clear—but it still has to be monitored.
We were so happy that my daughter and I spontaneously decided to go to the Carnival parade in Olching. Now, of course, we needed a costume in no time.
It was quickly decided that I was going to become an alley cat :-) Dug out some old socks—cut them off, sewed around the edge once with a zigzag stitch, added a small seam by the thumb, and the wrist warmers were done. With thick gray yarn I crocheted 2 ears onto a headband, then quickly sewed on some leftover sock pieces for the inside and to reinforce them—and the ears were finished.
A gray knitted coat, a gray scarf, and a little Carnival makeup completed the outfit, and I really felt great as a kitten. Meanwhile, with the help of my wardrobe, my daughter had transformed herself into a dashing pirate—and so, relieved and in a good mood, we dashed off and had lots of fun :-)
Best wishes, Elke
