Knitting a Scarf: Tips for Beginners

Dear users, dear designers,
are there any tips on knitting scarves for beginners?

With a knitted scarf, it’s always especially important to knit the edge stitches neatly. I wrote a post about that on my blog. Practice a little first—and then it’ll work out. And every now and then, count your stitches to make sure they’re all still there. Other than that, a scarf is an ideal beginner project. There are so many beautiful gradient yarns, which makes knitting even more fun and gives you a lovely result.

I find ribbed scarves knitted in knit-purl pattern the easiest—always start with a knit stitch and end the row with a purl stitch, and just slip the first knit stitch at the beginning; that way, it’s hard for anything to go wrong.
