Short leg warmers

I knitted these myself, and the pattern is another one I came up with on my own. Since I can’t wear boots or ankle boots anymore—I just can’t get my feet into them (I can’t bend my foot the way I need to)—I just slip on these leg warmers when it gets too cold.

Leg warmers were very fashionable a few years ago, and I have to say that they’re definitely more comfortable to wear than boots.

Leg warmers are apparently very much back in style this season.

Dear Inge, I hope you chose “real wool” for your leg warmers. After all, they’re supposed to keep you warm.

I also have leg warmers that I pull over my sneakers in the fall and winter. That way, I get the comfort of my sneakers, and my ankles—and thus my whole foot—stay nice and warm. If you pull your jeans over them, you can’t even see them. I knitted mine from mottled 6-ply sock yarn (shades of blue). You really need real wool for this—otherwise, it’s a waste of effort.

Every winter I dig them out again and again because they’re soooo practical. Sometimes, when it’s cold inside, I just pull them over my leggings like that.

Don’t worry, Ina—this is nice, warm sports wool that doesn’t shrink in the wash and keeps you wonderfully warm, but thanks for all your compliments anyway. :-)
