How exactly did you create the quilted fabric yourself? So you sewed in the quilting pattern—is that what you mean?

Yes, Josefa, I used a thin batting on the back to give it a bit more dimension, so the little bag also has a bit of structure.

Can you also buy quilted fabric ready-made?
What’s the advantage of sewing it yourself?

Any well-stocked fabric store carries ready-made quilted fabric, especially since it’s very trendy again right now. When I make my own quilted fabric, I can design the check pattern however I like—just like on this little bag—or create squares, rectangles, or even hexagons myself. But you should carefully mark them on the fabric beforehand with a pen that washes out. Okay, it takes a lot of thread, but if you enjoy it, go for it :-) I make quilted fabric for bags like this every now and then, but I’ve never tried it for larger items.
