Bind Off While Knitting

Dear users, dear authors,
how do you bind off when knitting?

To bind off, knit 2 stitches and then slip the first knit stitch over the second. Continue this way until all stitches have been bound off.
Be sure to bind off loosely so that the top of the piece doesn’t pucker.

Another way to bind off is to use crossed stitches, which keeps the edge nice and stretchy:
First, knit 2 stitches as usual and then slip them back onto the left needle. These two stitches are then knitted together through the back loop.

Personally, I also like to bind off with a crochet hook: I simply work a row of slip stitches across the stitches.

I knit knit and purl stitches with very different tensions, so I prefer to bind off with purl stitches because they’re much looser for me. If I bind off with knit stitches, it would definitely pull together for me.
I’ve never tried crocheting off before—I’ll have to give it a try.
