Since I’ve only crocheted hats so far, I’m going to try making a soul warmer now. I have a great pattern, but it doesn’t include any information on the gauge. It only lists the yarn and hook size. If I want to use a slightly different yarn, how can I be sure the finished piece will turn out right? The gauge on the yarn label is only for knitting… and what stitch pattern should I use for the gauge? There’s no stockinette stitch in crochet, is there? I’m totally confused😫

If the pattern is from here, you could message the author. They’ll probably be able to help you best.

Maybe the pattern includes measurements for how big the piece is supposed to be. Then you can make a gauge swatch in the pattern you’ll be using to crochet the soul warmer.
If you’re having trouble recalculating the gauge, I recommend checking out Traudelina’s shop. She has some great conversion charts for that.
