We’re filling our own Advent calendar—a forum game

Even those of us who love crafts would surely be delighted to receive a very special Advent calendar that grants our wishes.

Here, we can write down what such an Advent calendar might look like. That means we’ll write here what we’d like to find inside. (Maybe a few Christmas elves are reading along, too.)

December has already begun, but let’s just start with the first door. Then we’ll move on to the 2nd, 3rd, and so on. Once we reach the 24th, we’ll just start over from the beginning. I’m sure we’ll end up with quite a few items.

I’ll start with the first door—and open it:
A CraSyTrio (3 needles) in size 4.


Now let’s move on to the second door… what would you like to find inside?
Then the third, and so on.

For the second door, I’d like a size 3 crochet hook with a turned wooden handle

Behind the third door, I’d love an 800 ml porcelain coffee pot with a built-in stainless steel coffee filter :-)

Door 4: I’d like large Bobbel yarn cakes in gorgeous pastel colors

I open the 5th door—and find a finger guide for 2 strands for double knitting.

I’m opening door No. 6... oh, a crochet hook with two prongs

Behind door No. 7 is a closet that’s always well-stocked with an endless supply of wool....
I’d love to share this closet with all of you.

Door 8 contains a stitch-counting template—because I always forget to do a gauge swatch.

In door number 9, I’d always like to find the exact zipper I need at the moment, because that’s the one that’s always missing ;-) :-)

Now let’s just keep going with the first round—there are still plenty of gifts waiting for us:

I open the 10th door and find delicious vegan cookies inside, baked by the Christmas elves.

Behind door number 11, I’d like beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet hooks

I open a door and discover the ideal COVID-19 vaccine inside.

Behind the door I’m opening is health.

I open door No. 14, and it contains lambskin car seat covers—from Finkhof.

I open bag No. 15 and snow falls, which sticks to the ground (without making the streets and sidewalks icy)

Behind door 16 is a new Tunisian crochet hook for me 

Window 17 has already opened for me today and gifted me a knitting thimble for several strands.

I open door 18, and inside I find a big, real “Dresden Stollen”—mmh, delicious

Behind my 19th door is some red merino wool that manages to get itself to safety on its own, away from my cat, so it won’t get chewed up!!!

Door 20 brings me circular knitting needles for lace knitting.

Behind the little door I opened is extra time for crafting and baking…

Behind door 21, I find a delicious vegan Christmas dinner, already set on the table and smelling absolutely delicious.

Door 22 has a small food dehydrator waiting inside.

Door No. 23 gives me an idea for a vase I’d like to crochet

Door 24 contains a fat ball holder.

Oh—window no. 24—what a delight! There really is a high-performance blender with a glass jug inside. I’ve been wanting one for a long time.


And now there are still plenty of windows left to open. Who’s next? I’m curious to see what else is hiding in there.

Let’s put it this way… from now on, there will be plenty of Christmas doors for everyone who has a wish. I’m sure lots of Christmas elves and the Christ Child are reading along here, too.
