Christmas cookies

So, the first batch is done—I baked hazelnut macaroons, butter cookies, and Elisen gingerbread.
Göga and I like the gingerbread best without any glaze,

Oh, how delicious, Akela! :) The hazelnut macaroons sound the most tempting to me right now.
I’m curious to see what else is being baked here.

My husband has been asking for his favorite cake for a long time. Banana-nut cake—I baked that today for the first Sunday of Advent and gave it a twist with gingerbread spice. I’ll be sharing the recipe for that soon, too. 

but my butter cookies are still missing :-) I’ll be adding coconut macaroons this week

My Christmas cookies. The kids love the cookies with sugar sprinkles, gummy bear cookies (with melted gummy bears inside), and Spitzbuben the most. So we have to make those every year. Then there are also spritz cookies and (not pictured) coconut macaroons. I have a new recipe for those—one where they supposedly don’t get hard. I’m curious to see how they turn out. 

Oh, yum! Too bad my computer doesn’t have one of those slots with a dispenser :-) Then I’d click on the Spitzbuben in Ruth’s picture right now ... and just like that it would be here with me. And after that, I’d treat myself to one of Akela’s butter cookies. Oh, that would be so nice.

Oh man, that really makes your mouth water. Okay, I’ll admit it—apart from this tray-baked gingerbread, I’ve only baked these mini donuts, using a kind of waffle iron that also has two interchangeable inserts for muffins and little round cakes.

Soon I want to bake some Pfeffernüsse too—I need to restock because I ran out of ingredients.

I baked a delicious banana cake yesterday, and we just had it with our afternoon coffee. I’ll post the recipe here too in a separate thread.

Oh, how delicious! I’ll admit, this year I had someone else bake the cookies for me, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results this weekend. We finished off our gingerbread sheet cake over the weekend, so I’ll definitely make another one, and I’d also like to bake some apple turnovers.

Akela, there are just the two of us, too. We manage just fine polishing them all off by ourselves. :-) We both love treats like these, after all. And they brighten up the dark season for us.

Mowi, we love that too, but I’m always struggling with my weight anyway and have been carrying around extra pounds for years—my bones can’t take any more, so I have to put the brakes on somewhere ;-) :-) But just eating less all the time isn’t any fun either, and I know you don’t gain weight between the first Sunday of Advent and Epiphany, but between Epiphany and the first Sunday of Advent :-)

It’s just the two of us, too, but we still polish everything off in no time. I’m lucky that I can eat anything and not gain weight. I’m a real “sweet tooth.”

for me, just walking past a bakery is enough to put 2 kilos right back on my ribs ;-) :-)
