Hello Natalie, if you rotate the picture, it looks to me like a ribbed brioche pattern made of knit and purl stitches. Try Googling your way through brioche patterns; there are quite a few variations.

Hi, at first I thought it was twisted knit stitches.

I think it’s a brioche pattern. Try the following pattern with thick yarn and large needles.

Number of stitches divisible by 2

Row 1: Edge stitch, *k1, slip 1 purlwise with a yarn over*. Repeat from * to *. Purl the edge stitch.

Row 2 and all other rows: Edge stitch, *knit 1 stitch together with its yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise with a yarn over*. Repeat from * to *. Purl the edge stitch.

Maybe this is the pattern you’re looking for.
