Help interpreting a knitting pattern from a magazine I bought

Hi dear knitting pros, 

Basic pattern
RS: 1 purl stitch, 1 twisted knit stitch
WS: work the stitches as they appear

Question: On the WS rows, do I also knit twisted knit stitches, or “regular” knit stitches?

On the wrong side row, the knit stitches are actually the purl stitches from the previous row. Since you’re supposed to knit the stitches as they appear, I would just knit them normally.

Why don’t you do a gauge swatch and compare it to the picture in the pattern?

I’ve already done the gauge swatch—both look a bit odd. It looks really nice when I knit the purl stitches crossed too, but that’s a real finger-breaker ;)

What does the stitch pattern look like if you knit the knit stitches normally on the right side row instead of as twisted knit stitches?

So just a normal rib pattern, then.
I’ve switched and am doing half brioche now—it looks much neater that way. 

Half brioche—that’s also a possibility.

I took a look at how to knit a twisted purl stitch.
Since I hold the yarn in my right hand, I knit my purl stitches this way almost automatically.
The only difference is that I wrap the yarn around the needle once instead of twice.

If the stitches are to be worked as they appear, then on the wrong-side row the purl stitches are knitted, and the twisted knit stitches are worked as twisted purl stitches!
