Thanks, same to you — have a peaceful first weekend of Advent.
If I’m feeling better this afternoon, I want to go to the local Advent market with my daughter.
I woke up today with a splitting headache and spent half the night coughing. Thank God, no fever — I guess a walk in the fresh air is the best medicine.

Dear Akela, I hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy the afternoon with your daughter.

Our weekend is packed with invitations. Tonight we’re invited to a 60th birthday party, and tomorrow we’re heading to my mother-in-law’s for our traditional First Sunday of Advent celebration. So it’s a lot of family time.

I wish you all a wonderful First Sunday of Advent. My grandson’s stuffed bunnies are definitely ready for the Christmas season

Dear Akela, I hope you’re feeling better soon. Fresh air is always good for that.
I also wish everyone else a wonderful First Sunday of Advent.

I finally started decorating today—I hadn’t had time yet. At least I put the string of lights in the window and set up a few figurines with color-changing lights. I still have to bake some cookies, too.
Everything’s a bit late this time.

Well, then, make yourselves comfortable, everyone. We’re not going out tomorrow—brrrr, it’s -5 degrees here and freezing cold.

Best regards
Andrea

I’ve decorated my window facing the street for Christmas; everyone who walks by takes a look and enjoys the sight—especially the kids. :-)

Hello, everyone. We’ve been at the hospital since this evening.  Anton has had a high fever for 3 days, and this afternoon it was 33.3 (!!!!). The hospital staff have no explanation for it.

The nurse is very nice and checks his temperature every 2 hours. Unfortunately, it’s still at 34.6. I’m completely exhausted, and sleep is out of the question. I wish everyone else a wonderful First Sunday of Advent

Wishing Anton a speedy recovery.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of you that he recovers quickly.

I hope Anton is feeling better by now? I’m keeping my fingers crossed…

Yesterday, we went to the Christmas market with friends for the first time this year—the season has officially begun.
Today we had a delicious savoy cabbage stew, and we feasted on the Portokalopita (Greek orange cake) we baked yesterday.
We also made some beer liqueur, which the family “ordered” for Christmas…

For us, the weekend was all about pure indulgence.

Thank you very much. Fortunately, his temperature is back to normal now, but Anton is still weak and, above all, walks very unsteadily and shakily. The doctors find the low temperature and his walking strange, so we’re staying here for now. Neurologists are coming later, and then they’ll decide if any further tests are needed.

The cake sounds interesting

All the best to Anton and you.
Will you give us an update later?

Dear Sandra, I hope Anton gets back to his normal temperature very soon. When the little ones aren’t feeling well, we always feel it too, unfortunately.

Just be there for him—that’s what he needs most right now.

I wish everyone here a wonderful Advent season. We had a very cozy time on the first Sunday of Advent, and I spent some time knitting.

Thank you very much. So the neurologist was here; she wants to keep observing him until Wednesday. If he’s still walking so unsteadily and wobbly by then, further tests will be necessary. Then things will get serious. Then his brain and cerebrospinal fluid will have to be examined. But she thinks it’s related to the infections, and if so, it should be better by Wednesday.

Now they’ve also found norovirus in the stool sample, which is also strange, since he doesn’t have diarrhea.

It’s all very odd.

So we’ll just stay here until Wednesday.

Wednesday is still a while away.
Hopefully Anton will be feeling better by then.
Are you getting enough sleep and everything you need?

I sleep surprisingly well here. The only thing is, the food here is a disaster. But my mother-in-law takes very good care of me.

It’s nicer at home, of course, but it’s okay

Well, at least that’s something.
Is Anton feeling better?

Get well soon, Anton—hopefully he won’t need any further tests. Better to stay a day longer than to go home too soon.
Warm regards, Petra

 Thank you very much.
Yes, he’s doing much better. He resists during examinations and won’t sit still. Those are all very good signs.

Dear Sandra, I’m so happy for you all about the latest news—I’ve been rooting for you the whole time. Sometimes we can’t explain why the body activates its self-healing powers in a new way.  That’s when we need to trust this natural intelligence.

If Anton has to take antibiotics, be sure to restore his gut flora with probiotics. The good bacteria need to be replenished—they’re important for the immune system. Doctors rarely point this out.

I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you

Hi Sandra,
I just got around to reading the thread now. Thankfully, Anton is feeling better again—and I’m sure you are, too. When such a little one isn’t feeling well, you always feel so helpless. I hope you’ll be able to go home soon and enjoy the Advent season a little.

We’re back home!!!

Thank you so much for your concern. Anton is doing much better. In two weeks we have to go back to the neurologist, and his gait will be checked again. But that has also been getting better every day.

I think it was probably just a virus. Very rarely, children have a low body temperature with it; it’s rare but not serious....
Thank God

At lunchtime today there was a clown visit. Three clowns came into every room and acted silly. That was really sweet. Especially for children who are there for a long time, it’s really something special.

I just had a bath and feel like a human being again

My goodness, Sandra, I’m so very happy for all of you. That really moved me. Especially now, in the run-up to Christmas, everyone wants to be healthy and, above all, at home. How wonderful that things are looking up now.

Now Anton can enjoy the little elves every day. I’m sure they’ll make him happy.
Take really good care of yourselves now!

Warm regards
Monika
