Dear users, dear designers,
how many unfinished objects (UFOs) = unfinished craft projects do you have right now?

Oh dear, I used to have a whole bunch of UFOs, and they’d probably still be floating around if… well, if it weren’t for the monthly threads here that motivate me to finally bring those UFOs in for a landing.

That’s why—oh, miracle of miracles—I don’t have any left right now.

However, I’ve just started a slightly larger project—a shawl—that I definitely won’t be able to finish in a month.

I have one—the scarf that I keep working on. Every now and then I need something else on my needles.

Best regards, Inge

I only have one project on my needles. If ideas count as UFOs, then I have thousands :D

Over the last few days, I’ve been busy taking stock of my UFOs. I’ll tell you, it almost gave me a heart attack. With some of them, I really wonder what I was thinking. I’ve already unraveled a few and feel like I’ve been to a yarn store.

No UFOs—but I do have a very large WIP.

UFOs? Oh yes, I admit it... I have quite a few of those... Sometimes an idea pops into my head that I just can’t (or rather, won’t) put off, and then I get started right away because I’m so curious to see what the result will look like.
But sometimes my determination kicks in, and I pick up a UFO to finish it.

I don’t really have any UFOs, but I do have long-term projects. These are time-consuming, large projects that you can’t finish all at once, because otherwise it becomes too tedious and boring. For example, a large tablecloth that needs to be embroidered.
But otherwise, I’ve learned that you should finish what you start. And if something just isn’t fun anymore, I rip it out or throw it away (though that happens extremely rarely). Unfinished projects just make me nervous—I can’t stand that.
It’s completely different with housework: there, I’m often faced with a bunch of “UFOs” staring at me reproachfully ;-)

You said that dreaded word, “housework,” Ruth.

It’s pretty much the same for me as it is for you.
Since I need something to work on while I’m out and about and my tablecloth is now too big, I’ve got a smaller project on my needles.

This saying has been hanging on my kitchen door for years :-)

That’s a great saying, Akela!
UFOs? Unfortunately, I’ve lost track of how many of them are still lying around somewhere in a basket or a box! In any case, there are quite a few—and unfortunately, they’re on the larger side (e.g., a men’s sweater, a lace shawl, a baby cardigan, reinforced hiking socks…), which probably won’t be finished anytime soon, especially since there are always so many new, tempting projects to discover! Right now, I’ve even set aside the little cardigan for my grandson (my April project) for a bit, since I still want to crochet a few little things for Easter. The net bag for my sister’s birthday is also still unfinished (I started it in March). For Easter, I’d simply like a few more hours in each day instead of a chocolate bunny!

I have 3 UFOs. A pair of socks I didn’t finish before Christmas, a circular vest, and a Sophie’s Universe blanket :) I keep working on all three a little bit at a time, but somehow they never seem to get finished. Except Sophie; that one is growing pretty steadily.

During spring cleaning, I came across a UFO, which shocked me a little.
For my 12th birthday, my mother gave me an embroidered picture with 5 kittens on it, and it’s half finished.
That embroidered picture has now been waiting 23 years to be completed, has moved house with me 5 times since then, and yet everything needed to finish it is still there.

Who among you still has dusty UFOs like that? I’d be very interested to know
