I just had a customer write to me saying she keeps having trouble downloading the patterns from crazypatterns; she asked me to send her the pattern by email. Well, I’d be happy to do that, but how can I verify that she actually purchased a pattern from me?
This is an unfortunate situation for us sellers, since we don’t have any customer data. In other words, we can’t see the entire purchase process.
Have you already tried explaining to her that she can download the pattern again via her profile?
If the customer clicks on her nickname at the top, she’ll be taken to her profile. There’s a "Download" submenu there.
She can download the pattern again there if she’s lost it.
Maybe that will help.
If that doesn’t work either, operator will surely comment on it again.
As far as I understand it as a buyer, that’s exactly the key point—and the big advantage for sellers: they don’t have to worry about the purchase process. And as far as I know and have seen in the months I’ve been logging in here, it usually works quite well.
She had already downloaded the pattern, but couldn’t open it on her iPad. I’ve since received a message from her saying that she managed to figure it out somehow after all.
And yes, it’s frustrating that in this case it took about six emails and this forum post before the customer found a solution on her own. Unfortunately, the team didn’t have an answer either, since they said problems like this don’t actually happen . . . But they plan to make improvements soon and provide customers with instructions on how to download and open a PDF.
I’m really sorry that this caused you so much trouble—and the customer as well.
I don’t personally own an iPad, so I can’t speak from personal experience. However,
Google says that opening PDFs on iPads is generally problematic or a bit tricky.
You have to go through a workaround, so to speak.
It’s recommended not to open PDFs on an iPad, but rather on a PC or laptop.
So this isn’t a problem limited to PDFs from crazypatterns
—it affects PDFs of all kinds.
I found a help article here on how to open PDFs on an iPad:
http://www.helpster.de/ipad-pdf-oeffnen-so-geht-s_71746
It explains the process. You’ll also need some software from the App Store.
I’ve certainly noticed that you—or the customer—have since found a way to open it. But maybe someone else reading this is also familiar with this problem. Unfortunately, it’s not a problem limited to crazypatterns
; it affects PDFs of all kinds.
Generally speaking, PDFs are actually very easy to open.
That’s why it’s quite convenient that the patterns are available for download in PDF format.
