I need some technical advice and I’m not sure who can best help me. That’s why I’m posting here.
The background is that I’ve slightly revised one of the first patterns I wrote (one part was worded a bit awkwardly, and I simplified another).
I’d now like to replace the pattern (it’s not a new product, after all). What happens to customers who have already purchased and downloaded the “old” pattern? As far as I know, customers can download the pattern multiple times. If they download it again after the update, will it be the new pattern or the old one?
Will customers be notified that a new version is available? (That’s how I’ve seen it work on Ravelry, for example.)
I would expect that when you re-upload a pattern, the old one is replaced. I would start a thread in the forum to let customers know that a revised version is available. Alternatively, it would be a great service to send a message to the buyers of these patterns to inform them of the update.
Best regards,
Melle
Thanks, Melle, for the reply. Yes, that’s what I had in mind. If customers aren’t notified by CP that a new version is available, I’ll send them a message. I’m just not sure now whether they’ll have the new version in their downloads or still the old one. I do hope that existing customers will also have the option to download the new version again.
