Zip archive—who can help me?

I’m actually pretty good with computers, but for some reason I just can’t seem to figure out how to handle the ZIP archive for the gallery images. Is it true that whenever I upload a second or third image, the one I uploaded before gets deleted? It always just shows the name of the image I just uploaded. My attempt to collect all the images in a ZIP file also failed because I couldn’t upload it. Do I need to upload the zipped images or the JPEG images? Maybe you can help me out? I didn’t find any instructions on the help page. Thanks and best regards, Waltraud

Hi Waltraud,

I had the exact same problem ;-)
I also fiddled around with it for ages until I figured it out.

Here’s how it works (for me):

Create a separate folder for the images (I usually call it “Images for the listing”).
Copy or move all the images you want to upload into that folder.
Then go to the folder, right-click, select “Send to” > “ZIP-compressed folder,” and a new ZIP folder with all the images and the same name should be created. Just use that folder to upload.

I hope it works.

Best regards and have fun,

Nici

Hey there,
sternen-welt explained it nicely, but here’s an addendum/tip from me.
Without creating a folder, just select all the images you want to put in the ZIP file by holding down the “Ctrl” key. Then right-click… etc.

I’ve now tried all the suggested solutions. But I can’t unzip the pattern I just bought.
It only ever wants to save the same thing.

I’m very disappointed... because it works without any problems on DaWanda.
I have 7-Zip on my computer... but the download from Crazypattern just won’t work.

Oh well... experience gained and nearly 5 euros wasted?!?!

Hi feengewitter,

the instructions above are for bundling multiple images or posts. That means we designers create these files for uploading.

Since you want to unzip this ZIP file, you’ll naturally have to proceed differently.
Do you have an unzip program on your computer (it should be WinRAR or something similar)? Then right-click the file and select “Extract.” That should work.

Best regards,

Nici

Hi feengewitter,
on dawanda you get just the PDF file, so there’s nothing to extract. It should actually work without any problems, just as Nici described it - right-click and extract the file.

The advantage here is the instant download, but if it doesn’t work, just message the seller; maybe they’d be kind enough to send you the file by email. After all, we want happy buyers :0))

Warm regards and have a lovely evening
Melanie

I have WinZip on my PC. When I click on the ZIP file, the ZIP window opens and the corresponding PDF is displayed. Under “Extract/Split,” there’s a small window labeled “1-click ZIP file extraction,” and then I save the PDF. Unfortunately, I can’t include screenshots here; that would make it easier to explain.

Waltraud, just to clarify: You want to convert the PDF into a ZIP folder, right?

In that case, you shouldn’t use the “Extract” option, because otherwise the ZIP tool will try to unzip the file. Are there any other options available, such as “Send to ZIP Compressed Folder,” “Save as ZIP File,” or something similar?

Actually, I was replying to Feengewitter’s question, “How do I unzip?” As for my original question at the very top, you explained it so nicely that it worked right away!

To everyone... who wrote to me... thank you so, so much.

I have ZIP on my computer... I’ll have to check about WinRAR again.
I really seem to be at odds with that program. I remember... that I had major problems with it 10 years ago, too.

When I click “Extract ZIP,” the computer keeps trying to save the ZIP file again… but only as a ZIP file. So I’ve now got it on my computer several times… but nothing opens.

I’ll try my luck again.
If it doesn’t work……I’ll follow your advice……to contact the seller.

I’ll let you know……whatever the outcome.
Thank you so much for your quick replies.
Best regards.

To get back to the topic of extracting files: Right-click on the ZIP file, select “Extract,” and then specify a folder where the files will be extracted. This creates a new folder that is no longer compressed. This is easiest on Windows, where a suitable program is built right in, and you can simply double-click to view the contents of a ZIP archive and then open it.

Best regards,
Maike

@Feengewitter
Try this method—it works for both paid patterns and free patterns, without needing a ZIP archive or extraction.

Go directly to the product page for the pattern you purchased, then look on the right-hand side:

If you click on the blue link, you can download it directly—you don’t need WinZip, WinRAR, 7-Zip, or any other extraction program. After clicking the blue link,

you’ll be taken to this page:

There, you can download it right away.

You can enlarge my images by clicking directly on them.

Hello

Just an addendum because I see this happen often... Unzipping ZIP files to get to the PDF file usually does NOT work on a cell phone, so please use your PC or laptop and unzip the ZIP file with WinZip or WinRAR

As has already been explained here

Otherwise, contact the seller and ask whether you can get the PDF file itself by email; please include the purchase date, username, and your email address

Best regards, Nicole
