It’s supposed to look almost like a woven pattern
—who was it that wanted to try weaving?
Apparently, this is something like “advanced Tunisian crochet”

That looks interesting — I actually watched the video. To me, it looks a bit too coarse, but I find the technique itself fascinating. I like “regular” Tunisian crochet without the Dornröschen pattern better, though.
Why do you have such a strange line break in your post, anyway? Was that intentional?
 

No, the line break wasn’t intentional; the video title and the link were each supposed to have a line break
I copied the titles from the YouTube videos, and somehow the text ended up huge
and I couldn’t find the setting in the editor to make it smaller.

I tried Tunisian crochet once, too—that was months ago.
With regular crochet hooks, though, it only works suboptimally because the metal tip on regular hooks is simply too short before the handle.
I also tried it once with a crochet hook that’s made entirely of metal and has no plastic handle at all, but that gets a bit tricky because your hand and fingers need somewhere to go. Since all the stitches stay on the hook during the forward pass before being worked off in the return pass. It kind of reminds me of knitting, but—at least for me—it’s much more fun than knitting.

But Tunisian crochet really creates some cool effects :)
I can totally imagine that a sweater crocheted in Tunisian crochet would look great, especially with a lighter yarn for summer.
It’s really pretty cool when you work through all the stitches on the way back—it just glides along.
I don’t know if that makes sense, but anyone who’s tried it will know what I mean :)

I’ve never, ever tried the Sleeping Beauty pattern. But as Hamster says, I also like regular Tunisian crochet better than the Sleeping Beauty pattern.

I like making the regular one as a yoke for a going-out set, or for a sweater; I’ve also made it as a tola before
But there are also patterns with instructions and illustrations available from Teddy`s Handarbeiten or Wollinsel.
