Happy Weekend / Sunday: National Ice Cream Day / National Raspberry Cake Day

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. There’s something to celebrate this Sunday—it’s National Ice Cream Day and National Raspberry Cake Day. I hope you find time to celebrate—and to do some crafting, of course. Do you have any plans?

We’d like to take a family trip to an amusement park tomorrow. I’m in the middle of getting ready (picnic and all that) and checking the weather forecast regularly. There have been so many severe storms in the area with lots of hail and damage. 

Otherwise, we’re planning to spend Sunday in the garden or at the pool.

We’re having a LEGO meetup: the kids still have 5 big boxes of LEGO stashed at our place. Everyone keeps insisting that there are still models of theirs in there, so nothing can be sold. We’re meeting at K1 to sort through the models. Then everyone can do whatever they want with them. …and we’ve freed up some space in the basement.

Maybe there’s even time to build models together—that would be really nice; I’d love to do that.

I ran my ice cream maker again for tomorrow—it made blueberry ice cream and pineapple ice cream :-)

We won’t be going out much tomorrow because, thank goodness, rain is in the forecast—everything here is bone-dry, and nature is so thirsty that it’s really about time it rained

Plans for the weekend? Not really—just putting my feet up and lounging around is the order of the day. Crafting is really tough in this heat. I’d started a summer sweater (crocheted using the Briana pattern with some lovely yarn), had the front almost finished, and then found a huge mistake somewhere—so I had to rip it all out—which wasn’t exactly thrilling. I started over, but even though I did a gauge swatch, it was far too wide, so I unraveled it again—luckily it was just a small section. Yeah, and now I’m just making little things like egg hats and witch hats for eggs, and maybe little angels and a toilet paper hat—someone requested that in the colors of two specific soccer teams—so the egg hats! And egg cozy hats are quick to make and don’t require as much undivided attention as a sweater. The sweater will just have to wait—but maybe I’ll also make a thin summer cardigan out of the yarn; we’ll see—but that’ll be knitted and RVO. ;-)
