Baby Blanket: Sheep

Hi, I have a problem with the pattern for "crocheting a sheep"!

Round 1....=12 sts. OK
Round 2...2 single crochets in every 2nd stitch = 18 sts, huh?
...every 2nd stitch out of 12 sts gives 6x2 = 12 sts again.
Round 3, 2 single crochets in every 3rd stitch = by my calculations, 12 again


I don't understand the pattern.

In the 2nd round, you just double every 2nd stitch, which means: crochet 1 single crochet, 2 single crochets in the next stitch, 1 single crochet in the next stitch, and so on, alternating like this—so with 12 stitches, you’ll end up with 18 stitches.

In the 3rd round, you double every 3rd stitch, which means: 1 sc in each of the first 2 stitches, then 2 sc in the 3rd stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches... and so on. This way, you’ll end up with 24 stitches

—adding 6 stitches in each round.
