Babydecke "Du bist direkt in mein Herz hineinspaziert"

I purchased this beautiful pattern. I’m on Row 26 but I can’t get my stitches to come up to 182 that it says to cast on. 1ES/16-1P-1K-144P-16-1P-1K/1ES=178 not 182. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

      Dear linda-lane1,
      Thank you for your question.

The important thing to remember is that the first P1, K1 is worked once before you begin the repeats.

Work the row in this order:

      1 edge stitch
      P1, K1
      Repeat (P1, K1) 8 more times
      P144
      P1, K1
      Repeat (P1, K1) 8 more times
      1 edge stitch

      If you count the stitches:

      Edge stitch = 1
      P1, K1 = 2 (total 3)
      Repeat (P1, K1) 8 times = 16 (total 19)
      P144 = 144 (total 163)
      P1, K1 = 2 (total 165)
      Repeat (P1, K1) 8 times = 16 (total 181)
      Edge stitch = 1 (total 182 stitches)

The confusion is probably that the first P1, K1 on each side is separate from the repeated section. If you count only the repeated stitches, you'll end up 4 stitches short.

      I hope this helps.
      Kind regards,
      Eline from CreaEline

How do you do the edge stitch

      Dear elaine-mcmullin,
Thank you for your question. To create a nice border I knit the first stitch of the row and I slip the last stitch of the row. I hope this helps. Please don‘t hesitate to contact me should you have any other questions.
      Kind regards, Eline
