This motif with the two cuddling bears goes straight to the heart. When the little bear snuggles closely to his Mum, he feels secure, and nothing on the world can harm him. Every little child should have this feeling of being protected and loved. With this extra soft baby blanket you can symbolically give away these good wishes.

The motif is created only by knit and purl stitches. The border consists of an easy-to-do but very decorative cable pattern (no cable needle required). The pattern explains very detailed and stitch by stitch how you can knit this lovely blanket, so even beginners with good knitting skills will succeed. You will get very detailed directions on 10 pages with written instructions for each row. In addition you will get a knitting chart for the motif in a separate file. You can choose if you go with the written instructions or prefer working with the knitting chart.

Size Information

Gauge measured over stockinette stitch: 21 stitches x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4“ x 4“)

With this gauge, size of the finished blanket will be approx. 67 x 97 cm (after blocking or ironing).

Materials List

  • Wollbutt Venia (running length 318 m / 100 gr) about 3 skeins à 100 gr in mint; my blanket has a weight of about 260 gr
  • alternatively you can use any yarn which is suitable for babies; size of the finished blanket may be different then
  • 4 mm (US 6) circular needles, minimum 80 cm
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

    Hallo, ich bin gerade dabei die Decke zu stricken. Komme leider mit der angegebenen Maschenzahl nicht klar.
    Angeschlagen werden 182 aber das auf dem Zählmuster sind insgesamt nur 155 Maschen. Bitte um Hilfe.

      Hallo liebe floh49,
      danke für Deine Anfrage! Das Zopfmuster für die Umrandung zieht sich ein bisschen zusammen, braucht also mehr Maschen als nachher der Motivteil mit glatt rechts / kraus rechts. Die 27 Maschen, die Du mehr anschlägst als im Zählmuster aufgeführt sind, werden nach der unteren Umrandung, d.h. nach 6 cm Zopfmuster, abgenommen. Schau mal in der Anleitung auf Seite 5 in der Anleitung, da wird das genau erklärt.
      Wenn das Motiv komplett fertig gestrickt ist, musst Du diese 27 Maschen für die obere Umrandung wieder zunehmen.
      Falls Dir das Ab- und Zunehmen der Maschen nicht zusagt, kannst Du die Umrandung selbstverständlich in einem anderen Muster, z.B. Perlmuster, stricken. Dann kannst Du von Anfang an mit 155 Maschen arbeiten.
