Kind regards,

Regarding the rows you mentioned (47–50, 69–78, 92–102, etc.), when the pattern says “knit 116 sts as they appear,” it means to follow the established stitch pattern: knit the stitches that look like knits, and purl the ones that look like purls. So, if you purled a stitch on the previous row, you'll knit it on this row, and vice versa. This is a common way to maintain a consistent texture in a pattern.
I completely understand how this wording can be a bit unclear, especially if you're newer to reading patterns — you're doing wonderfully asking questions to make sure it all turns out just right!
If anything else is unclear as you go, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help.
Warmest wishes for your growing family and your knitting!

I was so looking forward to knitting thus when I bought it , then was very disappointed after doing the first 6 rows not understanding it

I am very sorry to hear that you are struggling with these instructions. All abbreviations are explained in the abbreviations section of the instructions. As I am currently on holidays and don‘t have access to a computer, I will try my best to answer your questions by heart:
est: edge stitch: the very first and the very last stitch of a row. I usually knit the first stitch and slip the last one to create a nice border.
7pm: 7 stitches in pearl pattern: purl all stitches that appear knit and knit all stitches that appear purled. This is a continuation of the pattern you knitted in the first few rows.
116p: purl 116 stitches
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have more questions. I will try to help, so that you can successfully knit this blanket.
Kind regards,
Eline
