Knitting pattern for children's scarf "Adventure in the Snowstorm"

Product description

These adorable cuddly fluffies are ready to conquer the hay bales... er... hearts. Completely exhausted from all the romping in the snow, the little Highland Cattles sit on their hay bales and count the snowflakes falling over their heads. Or do they just want to lick them up with their tongues? Find out with these adorable knitting patterns for a unique children's scarf using the double-face knitting technique. Two contrasting yarn colors are knitted simultaneously, so that each side reflects the negative image of the other.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Required knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of knitting (casting on and casting off stitches, knitting from right to left stitches, edge stitches)
Note: To achieve a clean, color-separated border, I used the Italian cast-on and Italian cast-off. The edge stitches are held in the slip edge. Mastering these techniques is beneficial for a more beautiful result.

  • Double-face knitting technique
IMPORTANT: This guide does not contain any technical instructions. A mastery of the basic techniques or the willingness to learn them (e.g., using one of the many well-explained YouTube videos) is required to complete this project.

What you get:
You will receive a 12-page instruction manual (font: Calibri, font size: 12, DIN A4) in which each knitting row is already counted row by row.

Difficulty level:
Medium

Size Information

Sizing may vary depending on the yarn used. Using a 3mm circular needle, I used a yarn that yields a gauge of 28 stitches x 39 rows for a 10 x 10 cm (3,94 x 3,94 inch) scarf. This resulted in a scarf that measured approximately 14.8 cm (5,82 inch) wide and 144 cm (56,69 inch) long.

Materials List

  • Yarn (These measurements may vary depending on how tight your thread tension is and the yarn and knitting needle size you plan to use. For a yardage of 220 m per 50 g, I needed 2 balls of pure merino wool per color, 4 balls in total for one scarf.
  • Circular knitting needle with sufficient band length
  • Securing needle
  • Darning needle (for casting off)
  • Scissors
