Knitting pattern double-face scarf "Flora Flowerfield" Highland Cow

Product description

Spring is here! Not only are small and large blossoms awakening from their winter slumber in the meadows and fields, but the Highland cattle pasture is also transforming into a colorful playground, inviting all sorts of adventures. Little Flora romps through the fragrant flower field, hiding here and there behind the larger flowers. Will her friends spot her?

You can easily recreate this adorable design with the "Flora Flowerfield" knitting pattern. This double-knit scarf is a delightful everyday accessory for both adults and children. The special knitting technique involves working two contrasting yarn colors simultaneously, so that each side displays the negative image of the other.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Required skills:

  • Basic knitting skills (casting on and cast off stitches, knitting knit and purl stitches, edge stitches)

Note: To achieve a clean, color-separated edge, I used the Italian cast-on and Italian cast-off. The edge stitches are worked in a chain stitch. Mastering these techniques is advantageous for a more aesthetically pleasing result.

  • Double-face knitting technique

IMPORTANT: This guide does NOT contain technical instructions. Mastery of basic techniques or a willingness to learn them (e.g., by watching one of the many well-explained YouTube videos) is required to complete this project.

What you get:
You will receive a zip folder containing the 13-page DIN A4 pattern in both German and English as PDF files. The instructions include row counts for each knitting row (a separate chart is not included).

Difficulty level:
Medium

Size Information

Size may vary depending on the yarn used.
Using a 3mm circular knitting needle, I knitted with yarn that yields a gauge of 28 stitches x 39 rows per 10 x 10 cm (3.93x3.93 inches). With this yarn, the scarf turned out to be approximately 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) wide and 130 cm (51,2 inches) long.

Materials List

  • Yarn (Depending on your yarn tension and the yarn and needle size you choose, the amounts may vary. With a yarn length of 220 m (8661 inches) per 50 g, I needed about two balls of merino yarn per color. I had some yarn left over.)
  • Circular or long knitting needles
  • Sewing needle
  • Darning needle (for casting off)
  • Scissors
