Little Strolchi the Highland cow snuggles into his cloud-soft bed. Every now and then, he blinks up at the twinkling stars in the night sky. Suddenly, he is completely awestruck. A huge shooting star flies right overhead! Bigger than any other the little Highland cow has ever seen. "Now I mustn't move. I don't want to scare the shooting star and make it fly away!" he thinks, blinking only very carefully. Quickly, he makes his wish – for he knows that shooting stars grant wishes.
With the "Strolchi Makes a Wish" knitting pattern for a small blanket, you can now knit this cute design yourself.
Required skills:
Note: To achieve a clean, color-separated edge, I use the Italian cast-on and Italian bind-off. The edge stitches are worked in a chain stitch. Mastering these techniques is advantageous for a more aesthetically pleasing result.
IMPORTANT: This guide does NOT contain technical instructions. Mastery of basic techniques or a willingness to learn them (e.g., by watching one of the many well-explained YouTube videos) is required to complete this project.
What you get:
You will receive a zip-compressed folder containing a 23-page pattern (font: Calibri, font size: 12, DIN A4) in PDF format. This knitting pattern conveniently includes row counts for each knitting row, greatly simplifying the knitting process as you don't need to count the individual stitches yourself.
In addition to the instructions, a further PDF is included, which graphically depicts the front and back of the pattern on separate A4 pages. This serves as a rough guide, if needed, to show you where you are currently knitting. A graphic knitting chart is NOT included.
The instructions are available in both German and English.
Difficulty level:
Advanced – due to the significant time commitment and the associated stamina required. The two-color Italian cast-on, in particular, is very challenging! Ambitious beginners should definitely practice on smaller projects before attempting this mammoth undertaking.
Size may vary depending on the yarn used.
Using a 3mm circular needle (80 cm), I knitted with a yarn that produced a gauge of 28 stitches and 36 rows per 10 x 10 cm. With this yarn, the "Strolchi Makes a Wish" blanket turned out to be approximately 80 cm wide and 102 cm long.
I've put a lot of heart and soul into this knitting pattern. Therefore, please respect that it's subject to copyright. All rights are and remain with me. This pattern is for personal use only! The sale of the pattern or the finished product is prohibited.
The knitting pattern, including all text, images, and components contained therein, may not be shared (either for a fee, free of charge, or for private purposes), copied, reproduced, or published in any other way. Extracting any part of the pattern, for example, to create your own patterns or products, or exchanging it for other patterns, is also prohibited.
