Knitting pattern children's scarf "Sweetie tooth loves snow" Highland Cow

Product description

Standing on the edge of a pasture, I watch as a herd of highland cattle contemplate the first snow of the year. Some people stick their heads in the hay. Others look in disbelief at the white stuff that suddenly falls from the clouds. But a curious cow carefully sticks its tongue out of its mouth. A snowflake kisses her. Shocked by the cold kiss, she quickly pulls her tongue back in. Only to stick his nose in the air again a second later. From that moment on there is no stopping her. She licks the falling snow with pleasure and joy.
This little observation served as inspiration for the knitting instructions “Sweetie tooth loves snow”, a children's scarf using the double-face technique. With my instructions you can easily knit the cute highland cow that waits with its tongue out for the next snowflake.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

  • Basic knowledge of knitting (casting on and binding off stitches, knitting from right to left stitches, edge stitches)
Note: to get a clean, color-separated edge, I used the Italian stitch cast-on and Italian cast-off. The edge stitches are held in the warp edge. Mastering these techniques is beneficial for a more beautiful result.
  • Doubleface knitting technique
IMPORTANT: the instructions do not contain any technical instructions. Mastering the basic techniques or the willingness to learn the techniques (e.g. using one of the many well-explained YouTube videos) is a prerequisite for completing the project.

What you get:
You will receive a zip folder containing the 10-page instructions (font: Calibri, font size: 12, DIN A4) in German and English as PDF files. In the instructions, each row of knitting is already counted row by row.

Difficulty level:
Medium

Size Information

Sizing may vary depending on the yarn used.
Using a 3mm circular knitting needle, I knitted a yarn that yielded a 10 x 10 cm swatch of 26 stitches x 35 rows. This made the scarf about 16 cm (6,3 inch) wide and 140 cm (55,1 inch) long.

Materials List

  • Yarn (Depending on how tight your thread tension is and which yarn and knitting needle size you want to use, the information may vary. With a length of 380 m per 100 g, I needed about 1 ball of cotton-polyacrylic yarn per color.
  • Circular knitting needle with sufficient band length
  • Sewing needle
  • Darning needle (for binding off)
  • Scissors
