Knitting pattern children's scarf (loop/snood) "Snow Friends" Highland Cow

Product description

Many cuddly friends frolic on the "Snow Friends" children's tube scarf/loop. In the center, a little Highland cow peeks over the pasture fence. Surrounded by its friends, it grins from ear to ear as snowflakes gently drift from the sky.
With these knitting patterns, you can easily recreate this enchanting snood. Depending on the yarn used, it has a circumference of approximately 49 cm. At 16.5 cm high, it comfortably wraps little children's necks in cozy warmth. The height can be increased if desired. The snood is knitted using the double-face technique. This involves knitting two contrasting yarn colors simultaneously, so that each side displays the negative image of the other.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Required knowledge:

  • Basic knitting skills (casting on and binding off stitches, knitting from right to left stitches)
NOTE: To achieve a clean, color-separated edge, I used the Italian cast-on and the Italian cast-off.
  • Double-face knitting technique
IMPORTANT: This guide does not contain technical instructions. Mastery of basic techniques or a willingness to learn them (e.g., by watching one of the many well-explained YouTube videos) is required to complete this project.

What you get:
You will receive a zip folder containing the 6-page knitting pattern (font: Calibri, font size: 12, DIN A4), in which each row is already counted. The pattern is included in German and English.

Difficulty level:
Medium

Size Information

The dimensions may vary depending on the yarn used.
Using a 3mm circular knitting needle (80cm), I knitted with a yarn that yields a gauge of 28 stitches x 36 rows per 10 x 10 cm. With this yarn, the scarf, measured simply, is approximately 24.5 cm wide (circumference: 49 cm) and 16.5 cm high. The height can be adjusted by repeating the first and last rows.

Materials List

  • Yarn (Depending on your yarn tension and the yarn and needle size you choose, the quantities may vary. With a yarn length of 175 m per 50 g, I needed one ball of pure merino wool per color, two balls in total for the project.)

  • Circular knitting needles (at least 80 cm long)
  • Double-pointed needles (optional)
  • Sewing needle (optional)
  • Darning needle (for casting off)
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers
