What happens after August 31?

Any seller who lists at least one item with us through Friday, August 31, will receive 70% of the selling price of the patterns they’ve uploaded to us as a Crazypatterns Early Bird during the promotional period and beyond.

That’s what the ad says. And what happens after that?

I haven’t sent an email about this 70%—do I absolutely have to do that? I’m currently receiving this 70% anyway—does that mean it was applied automatically for me?

@Elena, I’ve manually adjusted the percentage for you. After August 31, the 70% will still apply to you. After all, it says “…and beyond…” :-). 

Is that clear for me, and for the others who join here later? 

Different (lower) percentages will apply. The information will then be updated accordingly. The wording may be adjusted slightly, because in our case, 70% doesn’t mean that we “pocket” the remaining 30%. For €3 in sales, around 0.5 goes to PayPal (equivalent to about 15%). The remaining 15% is distributed among several areas such as: accounting, taxes & tax advisors, advertising partners, servers, developers, management, support, etc. 

I’d also be happy to show an example from other providers:

Item price: 3,-
Listing the item on the marketplace: -0.10
PayPal fee: approx. -0.5
Sales fee: approx. -0.18 (5% + 19% on the 5%)
What you end up with: 2.27 (equivalent to approx. 75% of the price)

With other platforms, you have considerably more work than with us ;-). Since you already sell with us and have some satisfied customers, perhaps you could share where the strengths and weaknesses of various portals lie?

Until now, I’ve been selling through my own website.
People generally have little trust in marketplaces like this compared to, say, Dawanda.

Dawanda—well, there’s a lot of competition, and even if you offer your product more cheaply than others, your product quickly ends up somewhere near the bottom. It’s very difficult to make it into the top list.
There, you can sell all kinds of handmade items, not just patterns. That’s a plus, but on the other hand also a minus.
And before you sell something, you really have to invest a lot of time: confirming the purchase, monitoring payment, sending the file by email. If it’s just a couple of sales a month, no problem; if it’s 100—well.... Hours at the computer!

In my opinion, Crazypatterns has several advantages:
- Once it’s downloaded, there’s no more admin to deal with. That personally even motivated me to create 2 new patterns already, and I have 3 more in the works, so you save time to make new things! Big praise!
- I also like PayPal better than waiting for and sorting out individual bank transfers!
- Specialization. Only patterns are offered. From various areas, but only actual patterns. I think that’s really great!

It’s clear that the platform is still young and that there are still some things to sort out.
It wouldn’t be bad if, for example, you could edit the pattern description yourself. Or add a few more pictures to the product over time. So, I have a few questions and suggestions)))) as always...)))

And if it continues to develop this well, I’ll personally be very happy. I’ll probably make some e-books exclusively for Crazypatterns!

Thank you very much! We’re happy to grow too, and within the scope of crazypatterns, we’ll stick exclusively to DIY patterns. However, we’re developing a platform for finished items and commissions that will mainly operate separately from crazypatterns.
