Question about the pattern

Hi!
I bought the pattern for the “Northampton” crochet bolero, but I’m having a hard time following it. I haven’t heard back from Natalija either. She posted the pattern many years ago... Maybe I’m just being clueless, but I need the number of chain stitches for at least size 38. Can anyone help me out?

I don’t have the pattern, so I don’t know what it says. But in the comments on the pattern, someone asked about the number of chains a while ago and got an answer. Maybe that will help you?

Hello,

you should NOT count the number of chain stitches!

Crochet as many as needed until you reach the back piece measurement!
For size 38, that’s a 42 cm long chain (you’ll find the back piece width and all other measurements in the pattern (page 1)).

But it’s better to crochet 15–20 more chain stitches. That’s because the chain can shrink a bit when you crochet the first row. If you have chain stitches left over at the end, you can carefully trim off the excess. I prefer this method to having to start over 2–3 times until I find the right size :)
