Buying a Sewing Machine—What’s Important?

Well, crocheting is all well and good, and it’s fun
but I’d really like to be able to make patchwork blankets or quilts at some point.
I do know that you’re supposed to start very, very small

but still
I’m not exactly the most patient muetzekatze of all time
just out of curiosity

what features should a good sewing machine have?
Or rather, how can you tell if one is good?
Where can you buy good sewing machines?
What models would be suitable for beginners?

During that special promotion from the coffee roaster that you mentioned a few weeks ago, there was a sewing machine with lots of extras for about 200 euros, as far as I can remember. I don’t know if a beginner really needs all that. I don’t have a sewing machine of my own.

Yeah, I saw that one too.
But at the time, I figured I didn’t need something like that.
Too bad—I should have taken a closer look.
Maybe it would have been a bargain.
With my beginner’s knowledge, I can’t really judge that.
Has anyone bought this specific machine?
