One more request: Allow guest users?

I hope I’m not going overboard with requests and suggestions today.
But here on the Crazypatterns forum, there are quite a few regular users by now. That’s great :) They’re all very nice and friendly, as far as I’ve seen so far. But it would also be really nice if there were more activity.

Over on the Crazypatterns Facebook page, things are really hopping, so to speak.
I really think it’s a shame that more people don’t find their way from Facebook to this forum.
In a forum, you can chat in a much more relaxed way than’s ever possible through Facebook comments. But maybe I’m just a bit old-fashioned—I’ll always prefer a good forum to Facebook comments. Nothing against Facebook—it’s a great invention—but still.

Would it be possible to allow unregistered users to post here as well?
I know that unregistered users often post spam or promotional links. But there might also be some guests who’d like to join the discussion without having to sign up right away. Or guests who might want to check things out first before deciding to stay as regular users.

Is there a specific reason why guests aren’t allowed?
If so, I’ll of course respect that.

What do the other users think about this?

I can understand the part about editing posts,
but why do you want to allow guest users?
Anyone interested in the topic here can create an account,
and it’s definitely true that guest users do bring spam, yes.

I actually find it quite convenient that it’s pretty quiet here.
I like coming here, but I don’t want to see 100 new posts every time.
That would be too much of a good thing.

what do you have against guest users?
So far, the SPAM issue here has been handled really well.
I’m sure it will stay that way.

Even if there were tons of posts every day, you don’t have to read every single one.
You can just pick out what interests you and ignore the rest.
But if we had more active users, there would surely be even more topics that would interest you.
and there might also be more life in the knitting section, and you’d surely like that, right?
and for the ladies who take on commissions, there would be more in it for them too.

I believe that when it comes to allowing guest users and having more posts per day, the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages.
