Mouline effect

Does anyone here know what the so-called Mouline effect is in wool or fancy yarn?

Mouliné yarn is a twisted yarn (made of individual strands twisted together). These strands are different colors. Try searching for “Mouliné yarn” in Google Images — you can see it better in pictures than I could ever explain :)

I also have some yarn like that lying around here
it looks good, but it’s a bit annoying to crochet with because one of the strands twisted together is so fine that you can hardly get through it with the crochet hook, and then you only pierce half of it

Thanks to both of you for the explanation—I now have a skein of Mouliné yarn, too. But just one—just to try it out. :)

The Mouline effect is fine, but yarn with a glitter effect is a bit over the top.
