This forum cannot be accessed

Hello everyone

I just tried to open muetzekatze’s thread "muetzekatze learns to crochet" using the forum search function.
I found the thread, but when I wanted to open it, this error message appeared:

This forum cannot be accessed

I then tried to access the thread directly via the crochet subforum, but every time I want to browse the crochet subforum, I end up back on the General Posts page.

Is this an issue on my end, or is it better not to visit the Crazypatterns forum with Firefox?

After a long absence, I just wanted to read up on what became of muetzekatze’s thread.

I just tried to get to my old thread via the search function too; nice to know someone is still interested in that old thing :)
Using the search function and then clicking doesn't work for me either; I get the same error message you do.
Then I found the thread via Google, just entered muetzekatze learns to crochet, and then I was able to click it.

Just try clicking the link directly; maybe it will work for you too.

I hope the issue with the search function is just the server being moody on the weekend.
I use Firefox too, and normally I don't have any problems with it. I don't like IE at all, and Chrome either, and I don't know my way around all the other browsers, so that only leaves Firefox.

I have another problem, too, including with the crochet forum.
I wanted to start a new topic in the crochet section,
and when I clicked on "Post," this came up first:

Ah, adding comments to existing threads works, but starting new topics doesn’t work so well.

I just tried again with the new thread
and got that error message again


But I can still post comments.

I’d saved the thread text in Word before I tried to publish it because it ended up being
a bit long—that was lucky for me, because otherwise it would be gone now.
Whenever I try to go back, all I get is a blank text field. I’ll just try posting the thread again tomorrow.

Is anyone else having this problem, or am I the only one?

Can you tell us what time the error occurred? We had a brief outage a few days ago. First, the connection was interrupted, and then the server had to be restarted. In both cases, the server was offline for about 1–2 minutes.

this problem happened to me for the first time yesterday evening around 11:30 p.m. I didn’t have this issue a few days ago.

I tried again to post yesterday’s long thread,
but it doesn’t work,
neither in the crochet forum nor in the general section.
The text has become really very long, a kind of experience-report/discussion thing,
apparently too long for the server?

because the test post I made could be published.

I split up yesterday’s long post, and now it works.
The server apparently doesn’t like that much text in the initial post.
In the following posts, though, it apparently doesn’t matter how much text is in them.
Could that be right?

it seems to have sorted itself out, because I can start threads again normally and without error messages :)
