Hi Petra,
I would first save the image again on your computer in the correct format.
Then edit the pattern itself (the pattern page here) and upload the new image there (which will replace the old one).
You can find the list of your patterns under
Account > My Patterns .... and then click the gear icon on the far right next to the relevant pattern
