Messages: What does the red dot mean?

Dear Crazypatterns team,
what does the red dot in front of a (sent) message mean?
It would be great if there were some information about this in the Help section under “PMs and Messages”—or did I miss something there?

the red dot means that the message hasn’t been read by the recipient yet.
