Shadow Crochet / Shadow Knitting

Dear users, dear authors,
We’ve had the shadow knitting / illusion knitting technique in our shop for a long time, but I didn’t know that shadow crochet existed. Were you already familiar with this technique?

No, that’s new to me, too. 
I’d like to try shadow knitting sometime, when I have a free moment. ;-)

Shadow crochet definitely sounds interesting as well. I’ll check it out.

I wasn’t familiar with shadow crochet either, but I’ve already knitted a test square with a shell stitch in it. It worked out great—I hadn’t imagined it would be so easy—so I’ll definitely make something with it someday.

Since we’re on the subject, I’d like to show you my half-finished shawl. I’ve been itching to try this out with a crochet hook for quite some time. It should be possible, right?
But for now, this project is on hold.

I was familiar with both—shadow knitting and shadow crocheting.
I’ve tried both. Personally, I find crocheting easier. Knitting isn’t really my thing. For some reason, I always end up missing stitches after a few rounds. 

Just like my dad always said:
Knit 2, purl 2, drop 2. LOL
