Help, I don’t understand the pattern

Hi,
I’m brand new here and I’m already having trouble with the pattern. I have 24 stitches, and then it goes like this:

*sc in st* rep – 24     (That part is still clear) then
*decrease, single crochet in next 2 stitches* repeat – 18
*single crochet in stitch* repeat – 18

Now my question: How do I end up with only 18 stitches when I’m only decreasing once?

I think you need to crochet every 3rd+4th sc together, so decrease 6 times, then you’ll get to 18

But unfortunately, it’s described very imprecisely. 

Yes... I can't imagine just 1 decrease

I clarified it with the author; the 6 stitches are decreased evenly across the round. I hope it's not always described so imprecisely. At least I can carry on now.

Ha ha, now even I, the clueless one, get it. It’s actually quite simple and logical.
Stephanie Risthaus explained it to me again.
*uns_abn, = One step
sc in next 2 sts = next step
And repeat that.

The pattern is understandable once you think about it logically.
