Size:
Each coaster is Approx. 10 x 10 cm in size.
Material:
Knitting needles 4 mm and 3.5 mm.
Approx. 10 g of Aran weight yarn (weight 4, 50 gr = 85m) in two different colours per coaster (around 5 g per colour).
I recommend using cotton yarn for best results.
Gauge:
It is not that important as it just will affect the finished size
Abbreviations: (I use US Terms)
St: Stitch
E: Edge Stitch (At the beginning of the row, both strands are slipped together, and at the end of the row, both strands are knitted together)
M: Main Colour (Work the Main Colour of this side knit and the contrast Colour purl)
C: Contrast Colour (Work the Contrast Colour of this side knit and the Main Colour purl)
I find that these coasters knit up really quickly once you’re familiar with the technique.
This pattern assumes basic knowledge of double knitting. If you’re not that familiar with it yet, feel free to check out this blog post:

I absolutely love this technique because you’re knitting two sides at once, which creates a really beautiful and thick result – perfect for coasters.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s actually not that difficult and a lot of fun to knit. I even find it super relaxing and almost a little bit meditative.
