The little mouse from my baby blanket pattern now gets its own moment to shine. In the original design, it appears together with a second rather big friend, but here the focus is just on the little mouse. Worked up as a wash cloth, it’s a quick, cosy make and a sweet way to bring a piece of the blanket into your everyday.
The original full blanket pattern, featuring both friends, is available here:

Other to the baby blanket, I worked the design itself here using knit stitches instead of purl stitches, which gives it a completely different charm. I also added a 2-stitch I-cord border. This is something I hadn’t tried before, but I really love how it turned out and will probably use this technique a lot more in the future.
The Mouse Wash cloth:
Let’s start:
Cast on 36 stitches loosely using 4 mm needles. Make sure not to cast on too tightly, as this will help keep the edge nice and even. Each row throughout the project will have a total of 36 stitches.

Cast off loosely—this works best with a larger knitting needle—but do not finish the last stitch yet.
Using a 4 mm crochet hook, make 17 chain stitches. Attach the chain to the beginning of the last stitch to form a loop, then weave in all ends neatly to finish your work.

Info:
The chart shows only the wrong-side rows; all stitches on the right-side rows are worked as knit stitches.
The red squares represent the edge stitches. On wrong-side rows, the first 2 and last 2 stitches are slipped purlwise, with the yarn held in front of the work.
The white squares are always worked as knit stitches.
The black squares are worked as purl stitches.
