Knitting pattern set "Pumpkin Heads" (6 designs)

Product description

When the wind whistles outside and the leaves begin to dance, there’s nothing better than getting cozy on the sofa with your knitting needles. With this lovingly curated set, you can bring a touch of autumnal magic straight to your needles! Six delightfully spooky-yet-charming pumpkin motifs are waiting for you to bring them to life. Thanks to the magical double-face technique, you’ll create little works of art that look absolutely flawless from both sides—featuring a fascinating color-negative effect, with no unsightly loose threads on the back.

Depending on the yarn used, your finished pumpkin squares—measuring approximately 16x16 cm—are truly special pieces, crafted with heart and perfect for a variety of uses around your home:

  • For the witch’s kitchen: As thick, heat-resistant pot holders or enchanting trivets for your witch’s brew.
  • For a cozy atmosphere: Use them as mini autumn-themed covers for candles, stitch them together to create an atmospheric Halloween garland, or add them as an eye-catching patch to your favorite cushion.
  • Perfect for gifting: Lovingly packaged as a handmade token—a heartfelt gesture sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Treat yourself to a creative break, feel the anticipation for Halloween, and knit your own cozy autumn world!

Row-by-row pattern. NO KNITTING CHART!

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Skills:

  • Basic knitting skills (casting on and binding off stitches, knitting knit and purl stitches, knitting in rows)
Note: To achieve a clean, color-separated edge, I used the Italian cast-on method. Being proficient in this technique is advantageous for a better-looking result.
  • Double-face knitting technique
IMPORTANT: This pattern does not include technical instructions for double-face knitting. Proficiency in the basic techniques—or a willingness to learn them (for example, by using one of the many well-explained online videos)—is a prerequisite for completing this project.

What you get:
You will receive a ZIP-compressed folder containing patterns for six pumpkin heads, available in both German and English in PDF format. Each knitting row is conveniently counted out for you, which makes the knitting process significantly easier, as there is no need for you to manually track the individual stitches or squares yourself. Please note that this is NOT a knitting chart!

Difficulty level:
Easy, once the basic techniques have been mastered.
Time required per doily: approximately 4-5 hours

Size Information

The size specifications may vary depending on the yarn used.
Using 3mm knitting needles, I knitted a yarn that yielded a 10 x 10 cm swatch of 26 stitches x 36 rows. With this a doily measures approximately 16 cm x 16 cm. It can be expanded on all edges with plain stitches in all directions or connected directly to additional pumpkin heads.

Materials List

  • Yarn. Depending on your yarn tension, the specific yarn you choose, and the needle size you use, the requirements may vary. For the complete set (6 pumpkin heads), I used two balls of Schachenmayr “Catania” in black, plus one ball each of the same yarn in neon orange and neon green.
  • Knitting needles (e.g. 3mm)
  • Darning needle (for binding off and sewing in threads)
  • Scissors
