Change Avatar

How do you change your avatar here?
It looks kind of weird because so many users have that avatar with the smiling blonde woman.

Hi, luckily I can answer this question myself :-). Please click on the button with your username at the top next to the search bar, then click on “Settings” and then “Upload Avatar.” There you can select an image and upload it from your computer.

Can I just find any picture on the internet and use
it as my avatar, or does it have to be my own picture?

It can be any image, but it should either belong to you or not be protected by copyright. If you upload your own photo (one you took yourself), nothing should go wrong.

How big can the avatar be?
I tried making my own, just with my name on it, but it doesn't display properly either horizontally or vertically.

The image is resized to 140x140 px. So the width should be equal to the height, and then it’ll fit.

The Clara avatar didn’t work at all when I tried to resize and adjust it.
I have a new one now from this site: www. kostenlose-avatare.de\/index.php?id=17
(I disabled the link with spaces—I don’t really want to advertise it)
I’m not entirely sure yet whether the avatar is really royalty-free.
I’ll have to keep looking, but the one I have now looks better than the cropped Clara avatar.
That’s what happens when you let digital immigrants loose on the forum ;)
