Found some “spring wool”? Collecting excuses for buying yarn

Dear Community,
I’ve heard that a lot of spring wool is appearing right now in spring. Have you experienced this when buying yarn too—that the yarn practically jumps into your shopping cart all by itself?
If so, here are the matching patterns for it

Have you found any more excuses for buying yarn this week, or do you not need any excuses?

I’m looking forward to this coming Saturday—I’ll be in Hirschaid at the Wool Market, or rather, the Wool Fair. I’ll be shopping until my bags are full if I find what I’m looking for, ;-) :-)

Best wishes, Inge

Right now, I’m giving stores with such great yarn a wide berth—I just can’t resist this “spontaneous yarn.” I simply have too much lying around and no more space left.

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself! And buying yarn is part of that. I could go without food and drink if I had to, but I find it hard to resist beautiful yarn and fabrics.

I’m still recovering from a burn on my leg, so I can’t go out and browse. So I let myself be tempted by some “spring yarn” online. I just discovered some hand-dyed sock yarns for myself on Etsy. It’s always so exciting to see how the skein unfolds in the end. But you still have to be careful—it can be addictive. Well, I suppose there are worse addictions, right?

Best wishes, Ina

Haha, it’s actually the other way around! There are so many great patterns here that you just have to go on a yarn hunt!
And besides, we’re also supporting the economy, which really needs it—so it’s all completely selfless.

I’ll do that, Veronika—I’ll be there with my daughter and grandchild; after all, we’ll need someone to carry our bags ;-))) :-)))

Love, Inge

These three absolutely had to come home with me yesterday:

Yeah, it’s weird—I don’t know why, but sometimes a ball of yarn just hops into the basket, smiles at me, and says, “Please take me home.”
Earlier this week I had physical therapy, and afterward I stopped by our only yarn and craft store, where three balls of Katia yarn practically jumped out at me. Since that color was sold out, I had to take them home. Other than that, I stayed strong.
Until the next “jump attack” :-))

My husband always rolls his eyes when I absolutely, positively need new yarn for my admittedly pretty well-stocked yarn stash. Then he says I should use all that up first.

Since he’s a tile setter, I tell him that he can’t put fine wall tiles on the floor either, right??? And a border tile isn’t suitable for a walk-in shower!

By the same logic, I can’t knit socks with bulky yarn, or a shawl with felting wool!

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t :-)

Remember: yarn is vital for survival. The dinosaurs didn’t have any yarn, and we all know how that ended!

I’m not going anywhere that sells yarn—with a heavy heart. But that way, I won’t be tempted, and nothing will jump out at me.

I pulled some cotton yarn from my stash and am knitting a dishcloth.

Well, my problem is more that I don’t have the right yarn for a particular project. Or not enough of it. Or the wrong color. So I buy more, with an extra skein just in case... Then I’m left with a little bit of leftover yarn—not enough for a new project, of course—and I end up buying more again. ...a vicious cycle...

Same here—I’m actually giving my favorite yarn shop a wide berth right now.

Did you buy any yarn, or did you manage to resist?

I’m currently working on a project using some beige or natural-colored yarn from my stash—I have an idea for it, and I’ll show you when it’s done.
And did I buy any yarn? Oh dear, 2 x 100 g black, 2 x 50 g black, and 2 x 50 g white—I want to make a few new pom-pom animals with that. We’ll see when I get around to it, because I have to finish the natural-colored project first—it’s supposed to be a gift. ;-)
