Help!

Hi!
I’ve already unraveled and reworked this section several times because I thought I’d miscounted, etc., but I always end up with the same result… it keeps coming out crooked… Can anyone tell me where I’m going wrong, or what else I could try besides varying the tension of my stitches? Or will this sort itself out during blocking?

Your shawl is coming out crooked because you’re knitting the stitches incorrectly in the stockinette section on the wrong side rows (where you’re supposed to purl). The way the yarn runs within the row doesn’t result in a neat sequence of U-curves alternating up and down, but instead forms loops like a small cursive “e.”
Beginners occasionally make this mistake with purl stitches because “threading the yarn through the loop” is easier for them than forming a proper purl stitch.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to unravel it all the way back to the garter stitch section.

I know that external links aren’t allowed here in the forum; otherwise, I’d link you to a YouTube video that correctly demonstrates how to knit purl stitches. If you follow those instructions, there won’t be any slanting.
