Halloween Party 2025: Crafting Ghosts and Spooky Things

Do you like Halloween? What do you need for a spooky Halloween party? Here in the thread and in the shop, you’re sure to find a few fitting ideas. There’s bound to be something for everyone. Have fun with it.

A fun decoration for Halloween is, for example, this table runner made using the shadow knitting, or illusion knitting, technique. With this type of knitting, the motif can only be seen from the side. If you look directly at the knitted piece, you only see stripes. 

Skulls are definitely a must for any spooky Halloween decoration. All the patterns I’m showing you here are also great for using up small amounts of leftover yarn.


This spooky Halloween lantern was made from an empty jam jar that was crocheted over with black yarn. You can light it with an LED light or with a real candle (but without the lid in that case). Crochet several of them and place them in the window!



You can design these skulls in the style of Mexican “sugar skulls”—colorful and decorated with flowers. Or you can crochet them as realistic, ivory-colored skulls. If you leave them hollow inside and the eye sockets open, you can also light them up with an LED light.



And here are a few skeleton keychains to give a little treat to the kids who ring your doorbell on Halloween. They’re quick to crochet, and you can make them colorful or gray.
