Advent and Christmas: festive patterns for early birds

right now Christmas is still a long way off, because it’s summer now, and then there will first be time for fall and Halloween. In the end, though, Christmas somehow always arrives faster than people generally expect, and then there’s no time left for crafting. Advent decorations, Advent calendars, and Advent wreaths need to be finished by December 1 or by the first Sunday of Advent. Before that, you have to get materials, and of course that all takes time. Before Christmas, gifts need to be bought, and of course there also has to be time left for baking. That’s why many of our users like to start early. If you’re not yet in the mood for Christmas patterns, you can of course also download beautiful bestsellers or save suitable patterns for Advent and Christmas to your favorites / wish list. Start thinking about Advent now and crochet little star bags

Especially if you want to crochet 24 pieces for an Advent calendar, it’s worth starting early. In the single-color version, a little bag is finished a bit faster, but the two-color version in particular looks even more Christmassy – you can decide for yourself how you want to design your stars.
You can also crochet the stars as gift tags or Christmas tree decorations – both versions are included in the pattern. Even as a flat little bowl for treats, a star like this looks wonderful on your winter table setting.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could decorate your living room at Christmas with a nativity scene featuring self-crocheted nativity figures? 

In my shop, you'll find patterns for them. The figures will be about 10 cm tall, so not too big, so they won't take up too much space, but big enough to decorate with loving details. You can use leftover yarn in different qualities very well for this.

For the basic setup, of course you'll need the 
 Holy Family . The crochet pattern includes the instructions for Mary, Joseph, the Christ Child in the manger, the Christmas star, as well as the ox and donkey.

After that, you can expand your nativity scene, e.g. with a
 shepherd scene. Here you'll get the patterns for three different shepherds, two different sheep, and the Christmas angel.

Your Christmas nativity scene will be especially magnificent if you add the
 Three Wise Men . In the pattern, you'll find not only the instructions for Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, but also for their exotic animals: camel, elephant, and Arabian horse.

How about laying out a table runner using the shadow/illusion knitting technique with a nativity scene motif for Advent or Christmas?

This technique is truly fascinating. You can only make out the motif when you look at the knitted piece from the side; from above, all you see are stripes.
